A plain cupboard painted to appear as open shelves with a display of items to echo the interests of the owner, however quirky, can become a work of art.

A table top or tray can be painted with a cloth, a plate of biscuits or a favourite book.

Trompe l'oeil can be painted onto room screens or chimney boards to compliment any interior scheme.  If the hearth is not used for a fire, fill it with a painted floral arrangement, cut out to shape, a collection of pots or an exotic plant.
